The drive in. Gorgeous. I forget how wonderful and majestic mountains are. Sunday morning Michelle and I woke up and decided to head to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park. We took the familiar drive to Boulder where we stopped for bagels and coffee at an Einsteins that was totally out of the way and inconvenient to get to...but it's what Michelle wanted, so that's what we did ;-) Then it was on through the rest of Boulder and up into the mountains.
I loved this chandelier hanging in the visitors center to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. It reminded me a lot of Yellowstone.
Brandy, Michelle's dog, came along for the journey to the top. Just like Michelle, she's not very keen on having her picture taken and doesn't cooperate when the camera comes out.
"Don't you DARE take a picture of me!"
This is a shot of some Elk grazing in a little field next to a stream. If you look in the center of the picture you can just make them out. We knew they were there cause of all the cars stopping and piling up along the road. That's your first clue that there's wildlife afoot....ah, city dwellers.
This is a great walkway built into the side of the mountain that lets you take in the sweeping panoramic views of the valley below.
And here's one of those views from the walkway.
