Crabby Saturday

Jim and Susan are out of town. Again. And I woke up really crabby. (There's no relation, though I do wish I got to travel as often as they seem to.) I didn't feel like doing much of anything. Period. From the get-go, I felt like my day was already gone - I had to drop off my dry cleaning, water J&S's plants, go to Target to buy a wedding gift and then go to the wedding later that evening - right smack dab at 5pm - just soon enough and late enough to screw up the rest of the night. (If and when I get married, I'm doing it at 11am with just fruit, nuts and cheese for a tiny reception so that people can get back to their weekends by about noon). I felt run down and exhausted. I woke up at 8, talked to Michelle, and then went back to bed for another 2 hours. After watering the plants, I plopped on J&S's couch to see what was on their satellite t.v. - nothing. So I laid on the couch and pictured above was my view. That sign was from her father's photo shop in Boone, NC.

From J&S's, I picked up Tim and we went to lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. Then it was the usual, "what do you want to do?" "I don't know, what do you want to do?" - so I suggested we go check out the Byzantine Chapel at the University of St. Thomas. There are two frescos from the 13th century (which you really can't see in the picture - though that is one of them there in the ceiling over the altar). I found out after I snapped several shots that I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures. Oh well.

This is the entrance to the chapel.

Later that evening it was off to the wedding which, on the invitation, said began at 5pm. I was given a heads up that since it was a hispanic wedding it would most likely begin late, probably around 5:30. So I arrived at 5:20pm. Guess when the bride decided to show. 7:00 pm. Yup. SEVEN P.M.! Ridiculous. As I snuck out the back of the fellowship hall after the ceremony and before the reception, I noticed this sign. Can you guess how crabby I was after THAT wedding? Aren't you glad most of you live over 1,000 miles away?

Kendall would have passed you a "Grumpy Bear" note if we were in class together. :)

As crazy as it was, you neglected to mention that it was not bad manners but a raging thunder and lightening storm that hindered the brides arrival at the ceremony... but being crabby you forgot...
