Catalina Coffee

I just love Houston! This town is chock-full of character and fun and interesting and different things! Where else can you be sitting in one of your favorite coffee bars posting to your blog when your eyes are blinded by dancing, dazzling lights as this pulls up??? It is covered, bumper-to-bumper in broken pieces of mirror. Every May Houston hosts the Orange Car Art Parade where people parade their creations up and down Allen Parkway. This is but one of the many creations.

Angel is going to kill me for this one. That's her looking away. She was trusting me that I wasn't going to take her picture, which in all honesty, I wasn't....up til this point. I loved the black of her purse, the red of her shirt, the orange of his - with the dog graphic on back, against the mint green of the plaster-and-brick wall. Up till this frame, all the pictures had her head off-frame. But this particular shot was the best of the bunch. Forgive me, Angel! I did it in the name of art! Blame him!

For Tim.

As I left Catalina, I walked out back to discover yet another art car. It appears to be a Tiki-themed bar. Those are tiki masks that surround the taillights, making glowing eyes out of them. from there I went to my happy place - Target. While leaving there, I wound up getting behind this fellow in traffic. Houston is a great place.
