If you know me well at all, you know I don't like cake. And while this particular dessert is very cake-like, it didn't give me any of my cake reactions and I absolutely loved it! And I think the chocolate cakey color really complements and brings out the brown of my eyes ;-)
It's called a whoopie-pie and it's sold at The Corner Bakery and comes in chocolate and pumpkin. Both are great. Yes, both. I ordered a chocolate one and my friend and old classmate ordered the pumpkin and then we split them and swapped halves. I have a new addiction. And a confession: that's our second chocolate whoopie pie. After talking for an hour and a half, I told Mary I needed to get a refill on my water so I went back inside and came out with this. And yes, I did get more water, so it wasn't a complete ruse.
On my way to meet Mary after work, I spotted this little guy trying to high tail it off my windshield before the wind got any worse. I have no idea what kind of catepillar he is (or was), but he held on for a good 30 minutes, most of it which was at 70mph. I figure he got plum tuckered out and as I approached downtown just let go. But don't worry, there were TONS of his kinsman all over the parking cover at my office. The species will survive...whatever it is. I need to google it and see if I can find out.
30 minutes later....
Here's what I found out from Google...it's called a White Marked Tussock. This is what it looks like:

It's got four white or yellow "bumps" on it's back and it's hairs can cause some allergic reactions in some people. My windshield did not seem to have a reaction.

And this is what it becomes, the White Marked Tussock Moth, a.k.a. bird/bat food.

I have a recipe for chocolate-peanut butter whoopie pies, and I think I'm gonna have to try it! Yum!
...and you're going to have to forward it to me :-)
