Three Years Ago Today

I had to reach into the archives for today's blog. It doesn't seem like there has been much going on to blog about lately, and yet it's been two weeks since my last entry. I think that's the longest I've gone without posting a new one...I'm not sure. But I don't care enough to go looking through my whole entire blog to find out. I guess in reality plenty has been going on, I just don't have any pictures to show for it. And who wants to see pictures of work, since that's all I've been doing anyway?
So the story behind these shots of memory lane: That's Angel, Kim and Tim trying to make me jealous. The three of them are not touchy-feely types and I used to always tease them about how I was a hugger surrounded by people who didn't like to hug. So in their usual tormenting way, they circled up and posed for this shot for me. Most of the time when the four of us would hang out, I would hear perpetually the song from Sesame Street, "One of These Things is Not Like the Others". That would be me. I was always odd-man-out in this little foursome.

And you can see how warm it was the last weekend of January 2006. Today (2009), I'm sitting inside a Starbucks and it's 40 degrees and gray. Friday it was 78 and gorgeous. This has been the winter of the bi-polar weather.

And this is Ethan, my friend Scott's son. About once a month Scott comes into town from Biloxi for a weekend visit with his son - and he usually stays with me. The two of them were playing on the playground while just mere feet away Angel, Kim and Tim were trying to make me jealous.

And the Friday before the weekend of lovin', I met Michelle and Britney for lunch at the original Mama Ninfa's on Navigation. The three of us used to work together at Fulbright. Michelle now lives in Denver (and will kill me for using this photo...but she usually doesn't check my blog) and I'm not quite sure where Britney is. Both Michelle and I have lost touch with her in the last year or so.

So what have I been doing for the last two weeks? Working, mainly. Yesterday I co-led a four hour workshop on change with my boss. Two weeks ago I co-led the same workshop with his wife. I was nervous about the first one, but even more nervous about the second because it was my boss who was going to be watching me. They both went well and my boss even told me two or three times that I did a good job. He's been very nice to me the last two weeks or so...that makes me paranoid. Poor guy can't win with me... But there are big winds of change blowing at work and I'm not sure that I like them. For having just led two workshops about embracing change, I'm very nervous about the magnitude of the changes that at this point appear imminent. Nothing has officially happened yet, and there's always the chance it won't happen at all, but all indicators point to the changing tides. I guess I can only sit back and watch. And of course, pray - though I'm not quite sure how to pray.
