Family fun day began with a trip to my sister's for all of us to get haircuts. That's my mom trying to explain to my sister what she wants the back of her hair to do - flip out, stand out, or something like that. And of course, Melinda is so highly skilled she was able to get it to do exactly what my mom wanted it to do - as evidenced by the photo below.
Family fun day then became family fun night at my parents house for dinner - but that was after an interim field trip to my third favorite spot in ABQ, Trader Joe's. Man I wish we'd get one here in Houston!!! We walked up and down each isle and all I wound up purchasing were "Joe Joe's" - peppermint flavored Oreo-type cookies. They put them out every year at Christmas and MAN are they good! So after yet another caloric intake opportunity, it was back home to have mom's brisquit and dad's, um...whatever those are up there...I think he called them "mashed potatos". Endless jokes were made at the table - "rubber", "wall paper paste", etc. For me the best comment came from my brother-in-law, Doyle, "I think what caught my attention about them was the shine. I've never seen shiny mashed potatos."

And here's Roxy in her new Christmas sweater getting to lick the brisquit plate. We Prinses are equal opportunity weight-gainers. If we consume enough calories for a month, so should the dog.

After dinner it was off to the Wii and a new game the boys got Christmas morning. I don't remember the name of it, but it was something about monkeys.

One of the most fun of the set of games to choose from was your monkey crossing a highwire (is that one word or two??). As you can see in the upper right corner, my monkey quickly fell off. The most warming and encouraging aspect of the game is also evidenced... "Failure" is written for all to see. I don't know what it is about the Wii, but my 5 and 7 year old nephew are just amazing naturals...we adults end up looking like idiots.
