ABQ 1

Dawn is not one of my favorite times, simply because it insists on arriving so freaking early. About the only time I see them is when I'm working in Denver or traveling somewhere, and this sunrise was courtesy of a trip back to NM for my parent's 40th Anniversary party.

This century plant was blooming next to my sister's house. This is one of the times I wished I'd had a better camera to get more of the detail. But one of the things I love about my camera is that I can just stick it in my pocket and carry it around with me to catch the random and spontaneous.

This is a little hard to make out, but this nest is about a foot wide and made out of twigs with thorns. Not sure what kind of bird has the gumption to make a thorn nest in a cactus, but it most likely does not have to worry about predators.

The first evening back home included my sister throwing her children around. No, not literally, but doing that old swinging back and forth and then releasing at the top. The kids loved it and the dog went berserk. This paritcular flying child is Bradley.

...And here goes Ian for liftoff.

And of course, finally, Seth.

Prior to the flying lessons, we had all done some landscaping and pulled out a bunch of dead twigs and branches. This was Melinda's offering to the garden gods in her patio furnace. Below is mine :-)
