Eight days after it started, the program ended. It was probably the most successful one we've run and with the new recording technology we had this year, the most trouble free. Jim and I had fewer staff this year as Carrie, who usually joins us, was not allowed to come due to budget cuts. But Jim and I were able to do it all successfully, which means we'll probably never get to have Carrie come again since we just proved we could do it on our own. Oh well.
And there was a little bit of sadness this year because it's looking like next year they're going to move the program to Chicago. While I'm excited to try a new city that I've never been to, it's going to be sad to leave a city I enjoy so much, and Jim and I were both commenting that we feel like we just hit our stride with it in Denver.
So after it ended we all said our goodbyes to each other, I said goodbye to Jim, and then I went and sat at a Starbucks by the hotel to wait for Michelle to come pick me up. This cute little guy was tied to the bench while his owner got a drink from inside. He sat quietly at first, then began to yip, and then broke into full out barking. Fortunately it's owner came out right before I imagined it would have started howling.
I just love Cherry Creek. It felt great to sit there with my luggage in the foreground looking out at the recently popped peonies and watching the traffic and people go by.
All week I had kept my eye on the peonies around the area. They were all budding and looking like they were about to pop and then on Saturday they did. You didn't think you'd get through some of my post without there being some flower shots did you??
Well Michelle finally came and got me and we dropped my stuff off at her place before heading downtown to take in the art festival and movie. While walking around before the movie, we saw this wedding shop that had this dress on display - and as Michelle quickly pointed out, looks like it's got two knives stuck in its back. We LOVED it...as the cynics we are :-)
So we went and saw Shrek 4 and laughed a lot. It was better than Shrek 2 or 3, but not as good as the original. When we got out, it was still light (which I absolutley LOVE) and the sun was at peak sunset mode. I snapped this shot just outside the theater. It makes me think of Gotham.
Why is it that cameras just never do sunsets justice?? I love evening and sunsets. They're my favorite time of day. This is a shot looking down 16th Avenue and the sea of people. One thing I miss about living in the West is the way it actually cools down when the sun sets. The humidity in Houston just likes to hang onto the heat too much.
