Ah, belini's! Pam makes the most wonderful drinks, as well as food. What was now several weeks ago, the Kutners had me over for a lasagna dinner with their friends Jennifer and Rita. We started off with drinks and appetizers, garlic shrimp. YUM!!
This is Rita and Jennifer - and as you can see, there are actually TWO lasagnas. One was for the five of us to eat that night and the other (that Jennifer is holding) was for them and me to split and take home. Problem was, they were so big, the five of us only ate about one third of the one in the oven, so we had to split that too! I ended up taking home two thirds of a lasagna and making six or seven meals out of it! Thanks Kutners!!
And here we are dining on the garlic shrimp and two kinds of bread. We were full before we ever sat down at the table. The joke of the night was the dessert cake the ladies brought - which I foolishly did not get a picture of! Jennifer had called Pam to ask what size cake to bring and Pam told her the small one. Jennifer got to the bakery, saw that the "small one" was about 6 inches in diameter, decided it was too small and instead got the large one. Well....the large one would have fed about 20 people. So needless to say, along with a tray of lasagna, the ladies were taking home a ton of cake as well. "Get the small one, Jennifer! THE SMALL ONE!"
Right before Jennifer and Rita arrived, the Kutners were talking about how they had just gotten several jars of Gafeltafish (sp?) on sale nad I commented how I had never tried it. They of course insisted since I was an honorary Jew I had to try it with the beet horseradish. It was really, really good!
