Art Car Parade

Are you ready? There are a LOT of photos this time, but take heart! If a picture is worth 1,000 words, there won't be much writing ;-) This is the annual Art Car Parade, an event I attend sporatically - which, in my opinion, is the best way to do it. And when I do attend, the prefered way to attend is to go early in the morning when all the cars line up before the parade begins: it's cooler, it's less crowded, and the cars are parked, so you can get better shots of them. So this being a year I felt like going, I grabbed my camera and headed to Allen Parkway.

The guy in the picture above was a professional photographer who was taking pictures of people taking pictures of the cars. He was keeping the same pace as Pam and I, so I may turn up in some photo somewhere...

For most of the photos, I won't say anything about them and just let you experience them as I did. Besides...in a lot of cases there just are no words.

Loved this little guy carrying his blankie around the parade route with him.

Ghost Busters! I had to adjust some of the pics on this post because about halfway through I realized I'd had the exposure set too bright.

This snake-scooter was covered in pennies.

This whole car is covered in yarn. The owner said he had to do a new hood this year cause of fading and that it took him over 100 hours.

The Blues Brother's singing while another Ghost Busters car owners dance with the downtown skyline in the background.

Loved the "Honk if You're Amish" sticker, as well as the Buc-ee's sticker.

This car is a favortie every year. Those are singing Billy Bass and Lobsters that are all synched together and also to the music.

Recognize it??? It's the Griswold family car from the Vacation movie.
