The proof is right there on the cup. The barista even said so. Fred is my coffee name. I get sick of saying "Derek" twice, or even worse, having to spell it. So I stole Pam's waiting-list name and made it my own. There's never ever another Fred around, I'm never asked how to spell it, it's always pronounced correctly, and it's easily heard when it's called out. It's the perfect name in public situations.
And yes, that's the new Glenn Beck book in the background. I got it at the library after finally discovering (at 36 yrs. old) that I can go on the Houston Public Library website and reserve copies of the new books I discover at Borders and read them for free. It's a fun feeling to think I'm one of the first people to read this particular library book. And I'm falling in love with Glenn Beck. I don't have cable, so I don't get Fox News and therefore have never watched him on t.v. But a friend gave me a copy of his previous book, Common Sense, and the love affair began. I don't know if I cold handle watching him be so "animated" on t.v., but I love his take on politics and his hope for America.
Started off my day at work...yes, on a Saturday. I had some things I needed to catch up on for Monday; plus, a young client of mine was back in town from his first semester away at college at which he was having a hard time - so it worked out well for me to kill two birds with one stone. Afterwards, I came out to my car to find this guy hiding out from the rain on my windshield.
And here is after hanging on for dear life riding from my office to the closest Starbucks. (see picture at top)
But this picture proceeds them all! It's of "Alfies Fish & Chips" in Texas City. One of these days I'm going to eat there. So why was I in Texas City? After working several hours, Tim drove down to Clear Lake to go with me further down to the Telge's house in Texas City so that I could pick up my new/old chair! It wouldn't fit in my car, so Tim agreed to let me put it in his SUV. Very kind of him as Texas City is almost an hour from my house.
