This is Freebirds, my favorite "build-your-own-burrito" place. It got started up in College Station, TX and has now migrated to Houston and Dallas and is MUCH better than Chipotle or Mission Burrito. Why is it so much better?? Because of the lime juice and roasted garlic! The lime juice just gives my steak burrito an amazing tang that I find myself craving. Even as I'm typing this I'm wanting another one! Sometimes a steak burrito with rice, black beans, mixed cheese, TONS of lime juice and roasted garlic all rolled up in a spinach tortilla and then doussed (sp?) with their unique spicy tobassco sauce and then washed down with a cold Mountain Dew just hits the spot, and last night was that night. Now I'm thinking lunch might be another one of those moments today... The only thing Freebirds could do to become 100% perfection is to have Cholula Sauce instead of their own tobassco, like Mission Burrito does. I absolutely LOVE Cholula Sauce. I put it on everything! Especially my morning oatmeal! (don't knock it till you've tried it!)
Each of the Freebird restaurants has some fun, whacky decoration. This particular one has Barbara Bush (a Houston native), Willie Nelson and the Phantom crashing through the wall on a roller coaster. The Freebirds by my office in Clear Lake as the Statue of Liberty crashing through the wall on a motorcycle, skirt flapping in the breeze :-)
